Come and taste traditional Krkonoše dishes

Housewives in the region had to make do with modest food, such as cabbage, potatoes, mushrooms, fresh herbs and legumes. If you are going to our highest mountains for a trip or vacation, be sure to try some of the traditional dishes. You will be surprised how imaginatively our ancestors were able to process the little that grew in the Giant Mountains in the field or in the forest. Try to make Krkonoše sour at home, the recipe is not complicated at all. How widespread it was is suggested by the saying that people got up with acid and went to bed with acid. For this hearty soup you will need 120 g of sourdough, 40 g of butter or lard, a handful of dried mushrooms, 300 g of potatoes, 1 medium-sized onion, 900 ml of water, 200 ml of milk, 2-4 eggs, salt and cumin.

Dilute the bread yeast with a small amount of lukewarm water and let it rise for a few hours, preferably overnight. Put mushrooms with cumin in a pot, add peeled, washed and diced potatoes. Add water, salt and cook gently. Then add the leavened yeast and cook. Fry the finely chopped onion in butter or lard and add it to the soup. We prepare sparse scrambled eggs or even better lost eggs, which we serve directly into plates or put them into soup.

In some parts of the Giant Mountains it is sour with potatoes for peeling, in others the potatoes are cooked separately - cut into cubes and added to the soup.

At our cottage we have a flock of sheep, which can be fed hard bread and fruit by arrangement. In summer it is possible to sit by the outdoor fireplace with grilling sausages and other delicacies.

You will find all kinds of blueberry specialties on the menu of our restaurant. Mainly sourdough blueberry dumplings, pancakes with blueberry kernels, blueberry pie with lint. Homemade lamb and mutton in many ways. We can recommend blueberry dumplings or venison goulash. We are preparing seasonal tasting weekend menus.

There is a playground, bicycle and ski storage, own ski lift with a length of 300 m, which is suitable for beginners and good skiers. The downhill run is irregularly groomed with a snow plow. We also offer night skiing.
